Grace

*Prayer Request Update*

I posted a prayer request a few weeks ago and I wanted to thank you all for your prayers.

The prayers were for my brother’s family.  His wife is pregnant with their third child, a girl.  Her name is Grace Elizabeth.  Baby Grace’s ultrasound revealed several critical health problems and the doctors have not given her much hope.

I just wanted to update you and let you know that my sister-in-law appreciated your prayers so much and asks that you continue to pray.

She reads this blog and might read these comments if you would like to let her know you are praying.

Thank you.

  9. Still praying over here in WA! For faithfulness, hope, healing and peace. Anything can happen. I know that it’s not the same, but maybe this story can help you, so you know you’re not alone. The author thought for a long time that she may lose her boys and her story is beautiful: http://walkonthehappyside.blogspot.com/2010/10/down-syndrome-awareness-second-child.html

  10. Rachel Spin says:

Here are a few verses that I have clung to in tough times. I am praying these over your family now…

Romans 5:3-5 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. (NIV)

Romans 8:26-27 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.

(all of ch. 27 is great, but these verses in particular) Psalm 27: 13-14 I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD. (NASB)

  11. Lynette says:

What a terrible time! So sorry you are all going through his.
We have to pray for HIS will to be done and to give us the ability to handle it, whether the outcome is good or not. HE knows what he is doing…we don’t.

  12. Nathalie says:

I wanted to encourage your sister-in-law with something that happened in my church family.

A couple of years ago, our associate pastor, who just moved up north, and his wife joyfully found out they were expecting baby #3. “Routine” ultrasounds revealed that their unborn son was going to have a number of problems, including spina bifida and other health issues. The doctors doubted that this child would ever be able to walk, talk, or feed himself. They were advised to abort.

My pastor and his wife were devastated, but they never considered this option.

When their son, Jude, was born, a huge team of specialists took over.

The baby was born with his spine curved almost completely backwards, and his legs were grossly misshapen.

However, he had all of his mental capacities!

Jude has gone through a lot of surgeries, but he has come through them all with flying colors.

And, miracle of miracles, he learned to walk!!

He has no brain damage either!

So, although I know that God doesn’t always allow for a happy ending such as this, I encourage you and your family to trust God and to believe in miracles.

BTW, after Jude was born, they started a web site on a hospital web site. If you’re interested, email me, and I’ll send you the link.

    I’ll be praying…

  13. How scary and heartbreaking. Prayers for peace for all involved.

  14. Molly says:

    Prayers are going up!!! xoxo

  15. Gianna says:

I don’t have any particular encouraging story and I won’t pretend to say the “right” words that come out so empty.
    I’m sure its horrible.
    I’m sure your heart hurts.
But I know that God loves you.
And He’s not letting you go even in your pain and even if you want to give up on Him.
    Hold on to that truth.

  16. Katie says:

I will be praying for Baby Grace, and for all of your family during this time. There are no words for a time like this, but God hears the heart of His people.

  17. Janie Fox says:

Praying for your baby Grace. My daughter is expecting her 3rd baby , a girl… Ollie, who has a heart defect that will require surgery after birth, and they highly suspect Down Syndrome. Please keep us in your prayers. We know that God is good all the time. He can do anything!

  18. Ada says:

  20. Ricki says:

I’m praying for your brother and sister in law. I’ve had 3 little angels leave me way too soon and I know how they must be feeling. I recent had someone share some words of wisdom with me that brought me some hope. Here it is:

All prayers are said that the little one comes through these trials, and will grow to be a beautiful and healthy woman. If that’s not God’s plan, however, when the time is right, let your sister in law know that her little one is waiting in Heaven, healthy and happy and waiting for her mom to come home.

It helps to know that just because we’ve lost that wonderful gift, it’s not gone forever. They’re just waiting with our Father to welcome us home.

(I just noticed that I commented on the wrong entry :-/ )

  21. Kimberly says:

  24. Melissa K says:

Our daughter is Grace Elizabeth as well, so knowing her name will help me remember to pray even more frequently.

  25. Gina says:

    (Copied from Rachel Spin)
Romans 8:26-27 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.

The Lord gave me this scripture just yesterday – I praise the Holy Spirit for interceding for the prayers we just don’t have the words for. I pray for a miracle for baby Grace and I pray for your brother’s sweet family- that they know that Father is right there with them.

  26. Vicki B says:

You just hang in there and love that unborn baby with all your might. Sending prayers your way.

  30. Calfkeeper says:

Prayers going up for a beautiful child and her wonderful family. Never give up hope for her. Ever.

  31. Rachel says:

    Wow… just WOW.

I commented on a previous post, about my sister’s Baby Gracie.

I was kind of left speechless when you wrote the name here.

So glad that we can pray for Grace Elizabeth by name – believing that she is a miracle from God from her conception. Believing that we serve an almighty God who knows the number of her days and the hairs on her tiny head. Knowing that He loves her beyond our own understanding – just as He loves you and is holding each member of your family.

Praying for joy in the midst of worry. For a peace that crushes fear. For a gratefulness and a profound determination to enjoy this little girl for every single minute.

God bless you – yes, we’re praying.

    Much love

  32. Lisa says:

I’m brand new here to Lumberjack’s Wife but felt compelled to comment and let you know my heart is heavy and full of thoughts and prayers for you. What a beautiful name – if/when my husband and I have a daughter, we plan to name her Grace Elizabeth as well.

  33. Heather (nurse Heather) says:
