Well. I am alive.
Barely.
I have been THE sixth grade teacher for 29 darlings for 10 days now.
Actually, 9. I had to call off one day. Lame, I know. But Little Dude was sick last Wednesday.
Little Dude was actually sick on Tuesday. I discovered it at 7am, and I am supposed to be there by 7:45am. So, I brought him in and the nurse took him and told me, while shaking my shoulders,
“I will take him! You HAVE to go down there! You HAVE to!”
This is because . . . well? Have you met sixth graders?
Exactly.
When he was sick the next day, I was sure to call in by 5:30am and I didn’t show my face. Ha!
It’s hard to be a teacher and a mom, I tell ya.
The good news is the staff I am working with are extremely encouraging and supportive. They are telling me that I am doing a good job, but I am over here like:
Fake it till you make it, I guess.
I am definitely trying, though. And I am exhausted. On Friday, I came home from school and fell asleep. David took the kids to church and I woke up around 6pm. I am worn out! I started at just the right time, though . . . only about 7 weeks to go!

David bought a new truck. And, as predicted, it is ginormous.
It is a Dodge 5500 Cummins Diesel Quad Cab. And be impressed that I knew all of that, thank you.
It was quite the ordeal to get it. Apparently, Dodge 5500s don’t grow on trees. David wanted to buy one across the country (not even joking) and ship it, but they sold it before he could work it out.
He was full of misery and sorrow, but soon found one about 6 hours away. This put a song in his heart and a spring in his step.
He and his brother, Jason, made the long trek to go and pick it up. And he is pleased as punch.
So, there you go.

Spring hath sprung around here, and I am loving it. We need sunshine!
Here are the horses, “sunbathing.”
Here is our cat, Mr. Poppers, sitting like a goober.
Happy Monday!
Hang in there–summer’s almost here! And “fake it til you make it” is very apt.
Mr. Poppers looks very healthy : ) I’m sure you’re doing great. Fake it til you make it usually works. Eventually you do make it! Will you take a job next year?
6th graders are…hmm..a joy?! Or something.
You went from using woebegone to goober lol. Thats a step back Ms. Teacher lol. I will forgive you though because I had a sixth grader and the highlight of my day was when the teacher was responsible for him.
This may be the best summer of your life…..I bet you appreciate
it more anyway. 🙂
Look at it this way……THEY have no idea you
don’t know what you are doing, as long as you ACT like you
know what you are doing the battle is won.
