Uno Reverse Card

This weekend, LD turned 13.  So, we have kids ranging in the ages of 13, 14, 17, and 18.  And it is just as easy as it sounds.

On his sixth birthday, he requested this fun Kit Kat cake.

And he has requested it each year since.

I am not sure why he was posing like that.  But he was sure to point out the lack of trucks in his cake.

We went to the river and we kayaked and enjoyed ourselves.

Here’s LD, jumping in-

It was also Father’s Day weekend, as well as my mother’s birthday and there were lots of celebrations to be had.

In honor of Father’s Day, I am sharing this throwback photo of David and the Fab Four from the days of yore.

Life is still tricky.  I am feeling a bit overwhelmed and not thoroughly basking in the joy that is this season.

But now I have chickens!  And I can make them a river when needed.  And watching chickens get all geeked out about water flowing is a top notch plan for anyone feeling like they are not basking in the season they are dwelling in.

And no dogs have eaten chickens in many days, and that is fun and happy as well.

The other day, HD was pestering LD.

HD:  You are just dumb.

LD:  Uno-Reverse-Card!

Me:  What?

LD:  I told him  Uno Reverse Card.  That means he’s dumb.

Me:  Ah.  Nobody can say dumb.

I found it clever.  Albeit rude on all accounts.

Alright.

Let’s look a cute picture of LD from many years ago when he would eat one hamburger instead of 3.

Your river location is so beautiful!
Great photo of David and your children- maybe you should get them to repose that now and take another?
Thinking of you and praying that is all that is going on you know the love of Christ and His sweet presence with you, giving you peace. Sending love!

I have chickens and a hose. Maybe I’ll make them a river today. Although, I’d rather figure out how to better access that peace Jesus said he left with us. I’d rather “Be anxious for nothing” . . . , and “Let not your heart be troubled” . . . There’s many more commands with promise that sound like better recipes than what I’ve got going on. Maybe making a river for chickens would be just the relaxing activity that would allow some of those truths to sink in deep. Life is tricky, but God is faithful. I’ll pray for your tricky when I pray for mine.

Sometimes it’s the small things in life that make it seem more worthwhile, not the big things. Keep on swimming, keep on swimming, as Dory says in Nemo.
